Melbourne’s nightlife is bleeding. For the past five or so months (possibly longer as many remain silent), a growing number of clubs across the city have been handing over protection money, they call it “tax” in the trade, to one of the most violent organised crime syndicates operating in Victoria (and Internationally). This isn’t rumour. This isn’t gossip from kids in the outer suburbs. This is coming straight from the men who sit up top who collect the cash and the men who order the fires when the envelopes run dry.
