Taskforce Hawk and the VIPER organised crime unit executed warrants at two houses shortly after 7.15am this morning, one in Wandin East and one in Preston. Two men have been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged secret commissions. Victoria Police describe a secret commission as a corrupt, undisclosed financial benefit, reward, payment or kickback.
The ABC has already identified the Wandin East man as Tyrone “Little Ty” Bell, 37, the former national vice-president of the Mongols and a former CFMEU delegate. Police allege he obtained a financial advantage by deception, made a false document and used a false document. They put the value of the alleged fraud at more than $424,000. Bell is also subject to a firearm prohibition order, and police say he failed to notify them of a change of address. He's been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on the 3rd of September.
