A One Nation candidate who stood in Queensland's 2024 election has been fined for lodging a false election-funding claim.
Simon Salloum ran for Redcliffe. He runs a fruit and vegetable shop there. In March 2026 he pleaded guilty in Brisbane Magistrates Court. He'd claimed $6,554.44 in public election funding after taking about 7.5 per cent of the vote. The court was told the claim included altered invoices. He'd paid $2,500 for campaign materials. The Electoral Commission checked with the printer. The printer had been paid $2,500.
